Now I physically turn off the monitor when I walk away as opposed to letting it go to sleep. I went back into Control Panel and reset the monitor panel so it also would never go to sleep. I went into Control Panel and reset my computer power setting so the computer would never go to sleep. Intermittent freezes randomly occurred after the computer sat idle for a while no change. I went into my CMOS (I had forgotten to do so earlier) and changed the video setting from PCI to PCI-E x16. The next morning I discovered it locked up. I also installed AMD Catalyst Application Profiles v12.4 Cap 1 dated. Upon initial installation, I went to the ATI site and installed the most recent Catalyst Software Suite v12.4 dated. I am not a gamer and the card is using default settings. Ever since then I've had intermittent freezes until I discovered a work-around. I just installed a new ASUS HD 7770 DirectCU video card Thursday along with a new Antek 750 watt Earthwatt power supply to feed it. I have what had been an utterly reliable HP Pavillion a6827c computer.
